“Only in Vegas” An Evening At Comme Ca at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Some Fine Scotch

“Only In Vegas.” It’s a phrase that gets tossed around a lot. Only In Vegas can you get a pancake the size of a hubcap. Only in Vegas can you shout requests at Garth Brooks, and he’ll play them.

Here’s something that’s not just Only in Vegas, but Only in Vegas, and Only once: The Vegas Star Chefs inaugural dinner.

Pretty much anyone who visits Las Vegas knows how many world-class chefs there are working on the Strip. But despite the fact that one great restaurant is right next to another, chefs very rarely get to work together, eat each others’ food, or exchange ideas. And here’s another thing: because these chefs have to appeal to visitors from around the world, they often don’t get to be as adventuresome in their cooking as they’d like to be.

So, this Vegas Star Chefs dinner is a chance for some of these chefs to stretch their legs.

Here’s how it works: At Comme Ça, one of the Strip’s best new French restaurants in the Cosmopolitan Hotel, Executive Chef Brian Howard has invited six of his fellow chefs to each contribute a new dish, along with his, to one eight course meal (including a charcuterie plate reception).

The theme of the meal is to pair food with a variety of Single Malt Scotch Whiskeys poured by guests Glenfiddich Ambassador, Mitch Bechard and The Balvenie Ambassador, Nicholas Pollacchi (it’s also rare to get two Scotch brands’ ambassadors at one event together).

And because the chefs are doing it mainly for the sake of fun and adventure, they’re keeping the price to an incredibly reasonable $100 per person (before tax and tip). I have no doubt this kind of meal would be $300.00 if it could happen in New York or LA.
