Travelogue: Craving Hawaii

Motivation needed? This time of year all I can think of is the trade winds, loco moco for breakfast and a Maui Brewing Co. beer on a lanai while watching a sunset somewhere in Hawaii. Spring might slowly bring change to the weather in your neighborhood but in Hawaii it has remained fairly constant. The skies are still blue and the weather is still warm enough to wear shorts all day long.

Cruise through the gallery of photos and then start contemplating where you want to be this summer. Maui, Kauai or the Big Island?

You’ll need a few resources to help you plan your trip.

  • The Napili Kai Beach Resort – Right on Napili Bay, with views of Lania and Molokai and one of the best beaches in West Maui. Get a stand up paddle board or put on a snorkel and enjoy the water. Make sure to get yourself into the Sea House restaurant for breakfast and you’ll realize that waiting on line at the other end of the bay for a meal is not worth it.
  • Punalu’u Beach on the Big Island – If you commit to driving around the Big Island you’ll stop just because you need a break but this beach is so intoxicating you might be motivated to rent a cottage nearby and make this spot your new place to visit. The black sand gets between your toes and the contrast of blue water, white cumulus clouds and deep black sand will have you running out of memory on your camera.
  • Star Noodle in Lahaina – A Cucumber Miki, Steamed Pork Buns, Ahi Poke’, Vietnamese Crepe and the Lahaiana Fried Soup. That is all you need to know. Oh, it’s in an industrial park away from the water. Better get out a map.
